Should I remove dewclaws?

The Short Answer
Usually unnecessary

Front dewclaws are attached by bone and are functional. Rear dewclaws are often floppy and can snag. Removal is usually only done if loosely attached or injured.

Puppies

Breeders sometimes remove them at 3 days old. For adults, it's a surgery with recovery time.
